How recordings are used
Who we are. Ozzie Voices is run by Ozzie LLC, United Arab Emirates, the makers of the Ozzie Quran app. Questions and requests go to salam@myozzie.app.
What is recorded. Your child's voice reciting short passages from Juz Amma, one passage at a time, together with the answers you give about your child: age, gender, nationality, the language spoken most at home, and how much Quran they already know. We also note the kind of device and microphone used, so odd-sounding recordings can be traced to their hardware.
Why. Ozzie is a Quran app for children that listens to a child recite and gently points out mistakes. To do that well it has to be trained on real children's voices, which almost no existing recordings contain. Yours help it learn. That is the only use.
Not linked to your name, but not anonymous. We do not ask for names, email addresses or accounts, and we do not store your device's address. Nothing in what we hold says which family a recording came from. Even so, a voice together with a child's age and background counts as personal information under data protection law, and we treat it that way: it is kept private, never published, and used only to build and test Ozzie's recitation feedback.
Who can hear them. Ozzie's small team and the reviewers who check that each recording matches its passage. Nobody else.
How long. Up to five years from the recording date, then deleted.
Having recordings removed. Because we hold no name or email, we find a family's recordings by when they were made. Email us the date and approximate time of the session, the child's age, and the country you chose, and we will locate and delete every recording from that session and confirm by reply. If a recording was already used in a training run, the model keeps what it learned; the recording itself is still deleted and never used again.
Where. Recordings are stored with Cloudflare and the answers with Neon, both under written data processing agreements, in data centres in the European Union (Cloudflare in Eastern Europe, Neon in Frankfurt). That may be outside your country.
Your consent. Only a parent or guardian may agree to this, and the tick box on the previous screen is that agreement. Withdrawing means asking us to remove the recordings, as above.
Not offered in the United States. The rules there for children's recordings need a fuller consent step than this page has, so Ozzie Voices is not available to families in the United States. The Ozzie app has that step, and American families will be able to help from inside the app.
